Erectile dysfunction made easy

Erectile dysfunction is when a man cannot get an erection or cannot maintain one during sexual activity. This can be the result of emotional, psychological or physical factors. We’re here to help you!

Erectile dysfunction is treated by the use of Phosphodiesterase-5 (PDE5) inhibitors. These are clinically approved and effective prescribed medications. PDE5 inhibitors work by relaxing the blood vessels, allowing the blood to flow more easily to the penis resulting in, and sustaining, an erection.

Our Partner Doctors can assist you with over 10 different brands, generics and strengths erectile dysfunction treatment, to find you a solution that works for your body and your budget.

Erectile Dysfunction

What is ED?
Erectile dysfunction is a common condition found in men, usually older than 40 years of age, but is becoming more frequent in younger men. It is clinically defined as the inability to attain or maintain an erection sufficient for sexual intercourse over a duration longer than three months. ED can significantly impact the psychosocial life of men who experience this disorder and their partners.
What causes ED?

Sexual arousal is a complex process that involves the brain, hormones, emotions, nerves, muscles and blood vessels. Erectile dysfunction can be caused by an issue with any of these. Mental health concerns can also cause or worsen erectile dysfunction.

Typical male ED is often associated with the following risk factors:

  • Obesity
  • Smoking
  • Diabetes
  • Hypertension
  • Dyslipidemia
  • Cardiovascular disease
  • Use of certain medications
  • Psychosocial factors such as depression and stress
What are phosphodiesterase-5 (PDE5) inhibitors?
PDE5 inhibitors are the standard medications used in the treatment of erectile dysfunction (ED). PDE5 inhibitors work by relaxing the blood vessels, allowing the blood to flow more easily to the penis resulting in, and sustaining, an erection.
Are all PDE5 inhibitors the same?
Although all the PDE5 inhibitors work using the same mechanism, they all appear to be equally effective in achieving high rates of successful sexual intercourse, and all have similar side-effect profiles. The major difference is the duration of action.
What’s the difference between event-based and chronic erectile dysfunction treatment?
Event-based erectile dysfunction treatment contains a higher dosage of the main active ingredient and is to be taken at least 30 minutes before you intend to have intercourse (please check your prescribed medications pamphlet to ensure the medication is taken correctly).

During your virtual consultation, you and your assigned Partner Doctor will discuss which dosage and quantity is best suited to your needs, including any financial concerns.

Chronic erectile dysfunction medication is to be taken daily and contains a much lower dosage of the active ingredient. This allows the individual to perform when they intend to.

Our chronic plan supplies you with 28 tablets every month, consisting of 5mg of your prescribed medication for chronic, everyday use. Chronic erectile dysfunction medication is more expensive than event-based and should be discussed with your assigned Partner Doctor before a decision is made.

Can I claim through my medical aid?
Yes, but only for your medication costs. Medical aid customers are still required to pay our service fees. We are working hard to get the medical aid providers to cover this fee.

Our Partner Pharmacy will claim your medication with your medical aid scheme. If your claim is unsuccessful we will reach out to you and confirm you are happy to pay privately for your medication instead.

Please note, if you are a medical aid customer and wish to receive chronic treatment on our once-off service, you will only be able to receive one month’s supply of medication as the medical aid schemes will not allow a claim for more than one month at a time.
